DFM chat on emerging trends in journalism

It seems that there is always too much to do and read and watch and write and click and get outraged about and debunk and upload and text and email and Instagram and Tweet and misspell and lose and forget and what am I talking about.
And it doesn't matter. The leaves will come down at their own speed.
It's time to harvest (or at least pick) apples and garlic and pumpkins and cover our tables with gourds, our chests with sweaters and our heads with new ideas. A seasonal change is a great time to start new things and to get going on that project you've been sitting on for a while.
I have this habit where I try to squeeze as many links into my reading diet as possible, by bookmarking and saving for later and favoriting and subscribing to digest newsletters and on and on. As you might have guessed, I don't get to all of them, and a lot of those links and stories stay stored in my favorites or bookmarks or emails for a long time, gathering digital dust, until I do a seasonal cleaning and trash a lot of stuff. It's a very familiar pattern, but none of this is tangible.
I sometimes wonder how much time we spend managing intangible things that we'll end up trashing.
